Camera movements

Camera movements

-Crab


A crab is the same as a tracking.


-Dolly


A dolly is where the camera is mounted on a cart which is is on a set of tracks to produce a very smooth movement.


-Dolly zoom


A dolly zoom is where the camera moves closer or further away from the subject while simultaneously adjusting the zoom angle to keep the main focus of the shot the same size in the frame.


-Follow

A follow is where the camera physically follows the character at a constant distance .


-Pan


A pan is when the camera moves left and right, horizontally.


-Pedestal (Ped)


A pedestal is where the camera moves position vertically with respect to the subject.


-Tilt


A tilt is when the camera moves vertical but remains on the same point.


-Track


A track is where the camera stays on a track but remains the same distance from the action and moves left and right.


-Truck


A truck is another term for tracking or dollying movements.


-Zoom



A zoom isn’t really the camera moving, but it is when the lens changes fogous to give the illusion that the object of focus is moving further or closer away.
